SIL2 compliant, HART transparent and hot swappable

IS1 is the first remote I/O system for zone 1 to provide full Profi-safe functionality, thus allowing for safe process shutdown via the fieldbus in SIL2 applications in hazardous areas. Users benefit from this solution which is much easier to operate than conventional Functional Safety concepts – these are based on point-to-point wiring via isolators and require considerably more time, expenses and material effort, especially in complex plants. IS1 systems provide analog input modules which enable SIL2-compliant communication via Profisafe. Additionally, there is a digital output module which allows for the immediate shutdown of all outputs via a separate, software-independent Ex i input.  

Apart from Profisafe support, IS1 offers further advantages. The system is, for example, fully HART transparent even with SIL requirements, which enables users to continuously monitor the status of all operating facilities via HART-based asset management functions parallel to process control systems. Both Profisafe modules and Profibus modules can be installed within one system. The safety modules, however, require a Profisafe master for configuration. All IS1 modules are hot swappable within zone 1. Featuring ATEX and IECEx certifications, they are also DNV, ABS and GL-approved, thus qualifying for use at sea and in offshore facilities. Additionally, IS1 systems can fulfill high availability requirements through redundant line and/or component installation.
