Remote HMI

The next generation

In hazardous areas of process automation the Remote operating station continues to be the preferred solution for operating and monitoring equipment. The associated PC is located in the safe area, connected via an interface fro keyboard, video and mouse with the KVM box. A frequent problem is that the Remote HMI systems currently on the market have trouble with modern, digital interfaces and are not flexible enough for integration state-of-the-art network solutions.

R. STAHL has a solution: a new generation of Remote HMIs that allow both easy connection to older systems with analog VGA and PS2 interfaces and the connection to modern PCs with DVI and USB. The integration into modern networks is very easy because of using standard Ethernet. As a standard, the Remote HMIs are fitted with a touch screen and several interfaces, and they offer countless application options.

The classic option

The PC is connected to the KVM box via the interfaces for keyboard (K), video (V) and mouse (M). The box communicates with the Remote station via Ethernet TCP/IP. The physical connection can be via copper Tx, optical fiber Fx or WLAN.

The future option

The connection via the KVM box, which is our current standard, will in the future increasingly make way for modern Thin Client applications. Fortunately for our customers, our new Remote station can do both - connect to a KVM box or function as a Thin Client.

The all-rounder

Here, the flexibility of the new system becomes apparent: several PCs can be accessed simultaneously by various Remote stations - be it for example for process automation or a condition monitoring system.

The cost-cutter

If you need several Remote stations but want to keep licensing cost low, up to four Remote stations can be connected via an Ethernet switch to one workstation and thus be connected to the KVM box. Here, all stations will show the same image of the workstation.

The big picture

You need to display a lot of information? The system can display the contents os up to eight monitors on the respective number of Remote stations. In span-mode and with touch screen operation. Everything´s possible.
